Split ring resonators (SRR) are being researched for material sensing applications recently. These structures are easily fabricated and offer moderate quality factor (Q) and resonant frequencies (ƒr). These structures provide limited tunability of ƒr although considerable variation in Q has been established. A simulation based analysis has been carried out to find most appropriate and practical configuration of SSRs to provide considerable shift in ƒr. Simulation results show efficacy of vertically stacked SRR vis-à-vis others configurations to achieve tunability.
