PHOTONIC GENERATION OF MICROWAVE SIGNALS USING SINGLE LASER TECHNIQUE

Abstract

Photonic generation methods of microwave signal employing single LASER (light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation) technique and Mach-Zehnder modulator (MZM) are presented in this paper. The impact of the finite extinction ratio (ER) of MZM and fiber dispersion on the generated microwave signal is discussed. This system is compared with other reported microwave generation schemes. The results of the system are simulated using OptiSystem12 software.
