Two new lactones and a sesquiterpenoid from the fruits of Terminalia catappa

Abstract
Two new lactones (1-2) along with a sesquiterpenoid 3 have been isolated from the chloroform extract of the fruits of Terminalia catappa. The structures of the isolated compounds were established by chemical and spectroscopic methods including IR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR and Mass spectroscopy. The originality of this study lies in the fact that the lactones and terpenoid were reported for the first time from the fruits of Terminalia catappa
